Gaming injuries on the rise
Poster: |RH|Puggy Thu Jan 28, 2010 3:20 pm

Hey all, I found this on the net and as usual I want to share this news and get your comments. It reads:

**************************************************************************************************************

Today's kids are pasty-faced, joypad-addicted, rickets-suffering wimps - who probably last breathed fresh air when they popped out of their mummy's tummy.

At least, that's how The Sun paints the modern UK youth in it latest 'investigation', which reveals gaming injuries are on the rise (yawn) - as good old 'wholesome' wounds caused by falling out of a tree (double yawn) are in decline.

Quite how this is a bad thing is a little beyond CVG. (Ever fallen out of a tree? You don't want to do it twice).

The paper reports that kids are 'hooked' on 'shoot-'em-ups'. Maybe R-Type's due a comeback.

The paper says: 'Those suffering serious repetitive strain injuries last year after spending hours glued to consoles on games like huge hit Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare are up a massive 60 per cent since 2002.

'Meanwhile there was a 50 per cent drop in youngsters aged 15 and under hurt pursuing the traditional childhood pastime of climbing trees.

'The total was 885 compared to 1,796 seven years ago.'

Was that The Sun encouraging youngsters to play the 18-rated Modern Warfare? You know, I think it was.

*****************************************************************************************************************

I don't really see the problem in the youngsters of today spending some quality time gaming. Sometimes games are educational and can increase ones intelligence level. With society today I can't blame any youngster wanting to stay indoors. There are things they may wish to persue with various sports clubs and organisations. Often though with a tough day at school/college and after their homework, why not release some of that pressure with a gaming session with your mates. Yeah sounds good to me :)
